Cool Boy Names

If God will give us the chance to have a boy as our next child, I would find one cool name under this list. I was watching “Brave” last night, and Merida’s brother was named “Hamish”. I asked Hubby if we can give that name if we had a boy. He don’t like the sound of it. But it means “margin” in Arabic. I said it’s nice. It means like “limit” or I can say like “last” hahaha! And the argument went far off from the topic. LOL!

Anyway, if we have  a boy as our next child, we will name him after my father=in-law, “Hisham”. It sounds cute right?

For Dear Parents

When I was still young, I didn’t know yet how to appreciate the works of my parents and how they are coping up to secure our family’s needs and wants. But as I grow old with knowing the reason behind their sacrifices, it made me realize how indeed lucky I am to have such loving and selfless parents. We may have ups and downs and lots of arguments in between, but in the end, they never shut down their doors for us. And we’re still a family no matter what.

We have to accept that time will come that our parents will grow older. We can’t prevent that. It’s called life. As I look at these bedside chair and commode and very stylish and modern bedside commode, I can’t help myself but cry. I can’t imagine my life without them.

I’m praying to provide them years as they are both in the middle of their senior age and I hope that by choosing the right products for them, they’ll be satisfied once that stage of their life comes in. It may cost much as we expected it to be, but price is never a matter if we’re talking about our parents. They never charged us for anything when we were asking for candies, clothing, new toys and drinks to fill our tummies, right? So it’s just our responsibility to give them back what they truly deserve in life.

I’m beginning to feel mushy here, hahaha! I just miss them so much. I just hope that we can go home by next year to see them and enjoy a quick get away from the city.

Toggle What?

I wish that I have an idea on what a toggle clamp is for earlier. SIL’s neighbor was looking for one the other day and we couldn’t put ourselves together and think if we have that on their kitchen cupboards or if it’s even a part of the kitchen household, hahaha! He couldn’t describe it as well since he’s not good in English too. So we just said we’re sorry we don’t have, he can check the security of the building and probably they have what he was looking form. I searched for an image of it afterwards and we all laughed. It’s no part of the kitchen at all. He should be looking at the mechanic shop LOL!

e Pickpocketing

Do you know that your credit card now be easily be stolen by someone without even knowing? That’s if you really didn’t leave it behind somewhere. Last month, one of our online friends was charged with full blown amount over her credit card account without her consent. The thief was able to get a copy her credit card details and made a replica of it. They suspected that the e pickpocketing was done when they paid via cc over a restaurant after dining in. They’ve already solved the issue with her bank, but of course the perpetrators are still on the loose. So dear friends, be aware and responsible with using your credit cards in public. Don’t let them charge you over without you actually seeing them swiping the card on their machines.

Me, A Chef?

I had to repost this from Panlasang Pinoy aka “taste of Filipino foods” so to not forget about a career that my husband wants me to achieve in life (yeah! I’m that novice with cooking). I want to be good in the kitchen someday somehow. Oh God Allah, help me achieve this. I want to satisfy my husband’s needs when it comes to food. LOL!

7 Ways to Become a Successful Chef

1. Have a passion for food

The best motivation is passion. Being passionate in what you do simply means loving what you are doing. As the popular saying goes “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life”. Having a passion for food is the greatest quality of a successful chef.

2. Spend time in the kitchen

Spending some time in the kitchen means cooking meals more often than the usual. Try to be the official cook of the family. Get to know kitchen tools, equipments, and basic food preparation. This builds self confidence and can make you feel comfortable when working in other kitchens.

3. Get a Culinary Arts Job

Experience is important in every job. Getting a Culinary Arts Job will improve your cooking skills and will provide the experience needed in your journey towards being a chef. It is important to start at the bottom and master some skills. These skills will add value to yourself which you can leverage on as you climb the career ladder.

4. Attend Culinary Arts Schools

The most recommended approach is to get a formal education by enrolling in Culinary Arts Schools. There are several schools in Culinary Arts offering different Culinary Arts Programs suited your preference. Having a formal education will not only improve your cooking skills, it will also provide other skills necessary in the Culinary Arts Industry, such as menu planning, purchasing, and food service operation. Having a degree in Culinary Arts will also make it easier for you to land in Culinary Arts Jobs.

5. Get familiar with the industry

The Culinary Arts Industry is not limited to cooking alone. There are a lot more things to know; things that can be of valuable importance as you progress in your career. Try to know more about the industry; understand how restaurant businesses work; get ideas on how to operate a catering business.

6. Hone your skills

Even the sharpest knife needs to be honed to maintain its condition. Honing your skills means to perform over and over until you master them. Practice, practice, practice!

7. Persevere and be patient

A chef’s job is stressful and challenging. It requires long hours of work (sometimes with only short breaks) doing both physical and mental tasks. Patience is a must if you want to stick to your career. Expect stress and issues everyday, but do something about it. Persevere amidst the challenges. Never give up and continue to grow.

5 Foods That Help You Sleep

Suzanne sent me this link over Twitter to help me find an easy way to sleep at night. I have problems with tucking myself to sleep for quite some time now. I’m not thinking of any issues at all, it’s just that this is me since college days. I don’t drink coffee before bed time, nor eat sweets – unless I don’t have any choice. But if insomnia attacks, make sure that I’ll be awake till sunset.

So here are some good tips for you out there who’s like me in some ways. Hope it all helps find our way to a good slumber.

1. Cherries. Fresh and dried cherries are one of the only natural food sources of melatonin, the chemical that controls the body’s internal clock to regulate sleep. Researchers who tested tart cherries and found high levels of melatonin recommend eating them an hour before bedtime or before a trip when you want to sleep on the plane.

2. Bananas. Potassium and magnesium are natural muscle relaxants, and bananas are a good source of both. They also contain the amino acid L-tryptophan, which gets converted to 5-HTP in the brain. The 5-HTP in turn is converted to serotonin (a relaxing neurotransmitter) and melatonin.

3. Toast. Carbohydrate-rich foods trigger insulin production, which induces sleep by speeding up the release of tryptophan and serotonin, two brain chemicals that relax you and send you to sleep..

4. Oatmeal. Like toast, a bowl of oatmeal triggers a rise in blood sugar, which in turn triggers insulin production and the release of sleep-inducing brain chemicals. Oats are also rich in melatonin, which many people take as a sleep aid..

5. Warm milk. Like bananas, milk contains the amino acid L-tryptophan, which turns to 5-HTP and releases relaxing serotonin. It’s also high in calcium, which promotes sleep.

Some may recommend you to drink chamomile tea. I’ve seen it on movies too. But I don’t I prefer to drink something else aside from tea in the evening. I only drink tea if we’re eating fried egg with bread and some cheese, olives and fresh “makdus” (an eggplant with pistachio and red bell pepper stuffed inside). But anyway, it’s still worth a try. It works with my friend Kerslyn. So I can ask Hubby if we can find a sachet or two.

Legal Advice

Have you ever heard of Accutane? I was reading on some news about people who got infected of it and right now suffering with inadequate support from the people liable for it. A lot of them already seek advice from their lawyers and raised proper Accuntane Lawsuit already. I was curious on this case and I found out that Accutane is a result of a serious injuries such as Crohn’s disease, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and ulcerative colitis. These causes a big effect on the colon and other digestive parts of our body. So be aware and go make a physical check up with it. You can still have the chance to file a proper lawsuit against the people or manufacturer of Accutane.

Fine Gold

My friend who is in Canada right now have seen this gold coin while rounding up in the city. She said that some people she knows are really a die hard collector of coins of any kinds. Some of them have a dozen and had placed them on a glass frame. How amazing!

Well, we all know that United States Gold Bureau is the main land for having this kind of collections. Here in the Middle East, gold is expensive – but the price is not fixed. Some say that there’s a season for gold, and some are saying that there’s a season for silver. Well for my opinion, there’s always a time for everything.

Buying Gold Coins

Investing your money through buying gold coins whether be it silver and other metals is a good investment. Right now, United States Gold Bureu and their staff are dedicated to commit and serve America’s best dealer with competitive precious materials being offered in the market.

I will choose silver since I’ve read that it’s the demand right now since 1990. Well, it’s cute collecting staff like these. Imagine showing them to your grand children after a few years from now. Collecting gold and silver coins are being fascinated by all types of ages. My friend who recently went to a vacation in Egypt says that she saw a lot of ancient coins and it’s very costly. Good luck to you all who wanted to collect these precious metals.
