New Leather Sofas

I think this was the same time last year when we were looking for leather sofas for our humble abode. My husband and I were arguing on which style we will get. I wanted to have an L-shape sofa, but we couldn’t find a good one in Syria. We were kinda looking for a modern leather furniture that will be easy to clean if there’s any dirt because as you know, having 2 kids is not a joke hahaha! You have to have a good one for this. We have to consider the weather condition as well in Syria since it’s really hot during summer.

See the photos above? These are the ones that I was hoping to have for our house but we ended up with a totally different one. These types of leather sofas are very nice to have in the house. Aside from being modern, it occupies a small space in the house as well. Very conventional too. You agree with me right?

I hope that as I write this post, our house is being shielded by the power of God’s hand. As you know Syria is not in a good political condition right now. And everyday, I’m praying that our house is still as it is.

Highlights of 2012

WARNING: Photo overload hehehe!

So here we go. Before I totally forget. Just to summarize the year of 2012.

It was our first family photo to be complete after what happened last 2011. I can’t believe that we’re finally here in UAE and looking forward to start our new life. This was the month that we first see the beauty of Burj Al Khalifa (that still give me jitters up until now whenever I see it in person).

Day 7/366 - Dubai Mall to meet up with friends and to see this amazing building Burj Al Khalifa.01.01.12 - US at Sahara Mall. Our first family photo for this year. Alhamdulillah!

Had the opportunity to finalized or visa. In return, we had to exit UAE and stayed overnight in a hotel in Muscat Oman. Hubby went first and within that week, me and my kids flew to Oman. My MIL arrived as well to stay for a short visit.
It was this month that we experienced life in Dubai through riding the means of transportation: Bus and Metro.

Our flight going to Muscat Oman. Feb28/12MIL's first time in Dubai Aquarium and to see the beauty of Burj Al Khalifa. Our first ride over Dubai Metro w MIL.Nahuli sa parade ng National Day ng UAE ✌✌✌

Everything was back to normal. Hubby started to look for a job while I on the other hand are still coping up with our new life.
Yazan celebrated his 6th birthday too. It was a month of roaming around because MIL was here and then she had to leave and go back to Rabegh that time too.

At Dubai Festival City. Alhamdulillah! To God be the glory.❤Julie & Julia❤Goofing around during their cousin's birthday.

Opportunities come and go. We still don’t have work and we’re still looking for chances as well. But we know that Allah’s with us. We may not have what we’ve always wanted to have, but we’re still blessed that we are complete and we’re together through thick and thin. Met with my cousin and they showed us more of Dubai’s finest places. Burj Al Arab was very beautiful.

While waiting for Papa, me and the kids stroll down along Jumeirah Beach Residence. Nagutom lang ako pano puro restaurants. Mag lu-lunch pa naman. After strolling for 30mins, Julie and Julia's face were so pink. Even when walking under the shades, ang iniTGIF w my cousins at Souq Madinat Jumeirah. First time to see Burj Al Arab.Ansaveh ng Rayban?

It’s my SIL birthday month. We treat her in Applebee’s Dubai and she loved their steaks. But I wasn’t impressed with their service though. Nothing can compare the hospitality of Applebee’s Qatar. Having a SIL like ate Rana is one of the best gift I’ve received from God. My family-in-law are the best and I’m one lucky WIFE indeed. Masha’Allah.

Our dearest Julie turned 1. Hubby’s cousin celebrated her birthday as well for this month. Went out to Zaabeel Park with cousins and Hubby was preparing to leave to Jeddah this month as well. It was a heartbreaking month because we will not be with him for a month.

Hubby left to Jeddah to find work. While his brother, Ahmad arrived and stayed for a week since he’s going to Riyadh to finally Alhamdulillah start working there. Hubby went to make Omrah in Mecca that month as well. Hubby arrived at the end of the month too. You can see the last photo my girls giving him a welcome kiss. They sure miss their dad. Oh by the way, this was the month that ScrapMatters accepted my application as a Guest CT for their store for the month of December. It was a such a happy/sad/exciting month I believe.

All his bags are packed and ready to go...✈ Hubby's leaving again tomorrow. He's off to Jeddah to make Omrah in Macca and to also try his luck to search for a job. He'll be welcomed by my parents-in-law. Kagabi pa ako nagiiiyakBIL is here! We missed him. Sayang hindi sila nagkaabot ni Abed. He's in Mecca now. Alhamdulillah!Sensya na, masaya lang ako talaga. It’s my mom’s birthday month. And Hubby got his gall bladder removed as well. He was confined in the hospital for 3 days for that procedure. Alhamdulillah he’s all fine up until now. Harry died on me the previous month and he was revived after being taken to another local store. Thank God! And August was a month of getting ready for Eid. A job opportunity knocked on my door. I thought that was it. Until now I’m still hoping that they’ll give me a callback. But I guess, it’s not okay to let your hopes up too much.

Mommy and DaddyThank you for praying with us.WB Harry!"I promise... Do you?"C is for Cookie. Stocking up for the Eid.

It’s Yara’s turn to celebrate her birthday. She turned 9 that month. The call that I was waiting for came in that month again. 2nd interview. It’s summer time so we went to Bab Al Shams and a swimming at Dreamland.

Waited for 3hrs and this was my view this afternoon. Sumakit ang fwet ko hahahah!⌚One Monday night at Bab Al Shams. After 2yrs, nakapag swimming rin. Hindi ko na uulitin. Ayoko na mangitim. Huhuhu!!! Yup, that's one of our ways to cover up. Exclusive Muslim Swim wear but there's one i want na Speedo ang tatak. Para may protection talaga sa sun. Hanap kami ni SIL next t

Hubby’s birthday month. Hoorah! He turned 32 last year and Alhamdulillah he’s with us and praying for more years to come. We spent the day along the beach with SIL’s family. Thankful for another year. We brought Julia to her 2nd dental Check-up too for this month. Went up to Green Mubazzarah a well. Picnic with Hubby’s family. And lastly, this month was a hectic month for our dearest Lily. She was nebulized for the first time. Wawa baby. Suffered due to cold and cough.

We're here. Alhamdulillah.2nd Dental Check-upMy ex-boyfriend cc: @abedoweiniMorning kisses from Julie and Julia for dearest Papa. Happy birthday Sweety @abedoweini. Wawa naman sana ako nalang may sakit pag ganito. She cried too much that it hurts seeing her in pain.

The weather started to change this month. I started to arrange our clothes and pull out the winter ones. This was the month for the end of Twilight Saga. And hubby surprised me by buying a ticket for the first day showing here in UAE. I was really surprised and was shouting like crazy LOL! Our pretty Julia turned 4. Alhamdulillah. I couldn’t ask for anything more except for her to be safe and to grow up with full of respect to elders. We experienced our first dine in at the famous Golden Fork in Dubai. Hubby’s cousin and her husband took us there for a treat. Over all, November was  good month.

The celebrant with her birthday cake. Happy 4th birthday ate Julia!!!

Treat from hubby's cousin.

Finally, December

National Day for UAE falls on the 2nd day of December. We experienced how patriotic Emirati all are. UAE flags are all over the place. And the Corniche was unbelievably crowded. The traffic enforcers had to close the whole street just for all families to be safe to cross back and forth. My birthday month. I was sick and it’s not a good sign at all. Got infected with the stomach flu. Me, my husband and my kids suffered with it for 2 1/2 days. Ugh! We had to move my birthday celebration on the 7th.  We dine in for the 2nd time in Applebee’s with and first time at Chilli’s. Thanks for the generous family of SIL. Oh yeah, this month ended with removing lice and nits. Yup, you heard it right. SIL’s kids got it and 2 of my kids obviously had it too. Good thing we were able to remove them all after 3 weeks of curing and shampooing everyday. Ugh! What a stressful month.

Oh yez! Traffic along Corniche. Saya ng National Day dito sa UAE. Ramdam mo hangang kahapon pa. Parang fiesta sa park dahil ang ingay and super dami ng tao. Families all group together for a picnic. Ang saya lang! Hehehe!Sick at 32Will be blowing my cake for my 32nd birthday. We call this, "dress up party". Kasi wala naman party. Hehehe! With cousin Hiba at Applebee's Dubai. [12.13.12]Untitled

That’s it. 2012 was a tough year for us all. Health, marriage, financial and relationship with each of us here in the house has been challenged a lot. But Alhamdulillah, things are great and Allah never put us down in times of need. We’re striving hard and we’re coping up as well. We can do this and we will not give up until we’re up on our own. We’re blessed and we’re thankful.

Iftar at al Sharjah Dhow Restaurant

The other day, SIL’s husband took us to a restaurant near our place. It’s our first time for this month to dine in for Iftar. So you wouldn’t believe how happy SIL was that day. She was counting the nights on how many time I’ve washed the dishes. It’s an open buffet you the food war overflowing.

Iftar at Al Sharjah Dow Restaurant.Snag from SIL's phone. O db, ang gulo ng mesa namin? Hahaha! Ako naka smile pa, si Abed nagpapakain ng bata. Baliktad! Hahaha!!!

Alhamdulillah for everything. And I’m so blessed to have a family like them. No words can express how truly blessed I am for being part of this family. Masha’Allah!

On Cooking

I’m so happy that I can cook for my family now a days. Chicken Tinola, Chicken Adobo, Kare-kare and Spaghetti (sweet Filipino style) were served for the last few days.

The above photo is the Kare-kare that I prepared for SIL and Hubby. And I’m so glad that they loved it. Thanks to a dear friend Chief B for sending me some kare-kare mix last year. I even bought "Barrio Fiesta"’s Bagoong mix. Hahaha! Delicious!

Happy New Year!

This will be my first post for the year 2012. Sorry for being so idle these past few days. Aside from coping up with the weather, SIL took us around Sharjah yesterday. It’s really fun to be with your family – that’s all I can say. Looking forward to be on the work mode in the next couple of days. Living you behind this photo of us taken by SIL in Sahara Mall after lunch. Sorry for the mess in front of us, hahaha! :)

01.01.12 - US at Sahara Mall. Our first family photo for this year. Alhamdulillah!Ok na sana, hindi naman nakatingin si Lily. Hehehe!
May this year brings forth good vibes to everyone, peace on earth, happiness and more blessing from Allah. 2011 is a year full of trials for us. But we hang on, trusted in Allah that everything will be okay. Alhamdulillah everything ended in a positive way. I claim that 2012 will be a year for us to start building and re-shaping our lives again. God Bless everyone.

Dining Lights

So here are the pendant lighting that we are thinking to put in our dining area.

Simple designs that will reflect a good and simple ambiance around us while eating. I wanted to have a darker colored steel, I’m not sure if we can see one here but if there is, I’ll grab it. The other day, Hubby and MIL visited the on going construction for the Sweet home but as usual, I was too lazy to go up and go with them, so I decided not to join and asked Hubby if he could just update me once he arrived. He wasn’t able to take photos for now, but next visit, I’m looking forward to take some shots. Thank God for the blessings.

Have a safe weekdays for you dear friends.

Friendships Online

I’m truly blessed to have such wonderful friends online who can give a helping hand at the time I needed them most. Someone can listen up and some may just be there to say “hey I’m here.. everything’s going to be alright…”. And I found those people over Twitter. My dear bebots who always listen to each others rant – whether negative or positive.

My domain is expiring soon. I needed to transfer it to another host and believe me, if we’re talking about hosting and domains and all those blogging terms, I’m a nomad on this. Thank God someone took time her time to help out. Thank you so much Kerslyn for saving my life online. I awe you big time sis.

And for now, I need to work now on my duties reading about document management software.

365 Photos Just to make sure that I will not be late with uploading photos for this year’s project 365, I just want to let you know that my photos are all uploaded straight over my flickr account under the “365 Days / 2011” album. I’m so happy that I’ve finally got my flickr under pro (thanks to my Mommy Santa for making my wish come true).

Click on the image above to direct you over my flickr account and view these photos. I love Instagram! I’m gaining friends as well over that application. Before me and dear friend Shey are the only ones on my feeds, now I’m following 10 and have 9 followers. You can follow me too. My name si “Jhari O. or @omjulia”.

Black is Beautiful

The most loving celebration is just a few weeks away. For those looking for an engagement ring or planning to have an idea for their wedding bands, why don’t you try a Black Diamond Jewelry for a change? I just browsed some photos over their site and I was stunned by the beauty of a black diamond. Why didn’t I think of that?

I will look for a replacement with my current engagement ring. But it’s just a thought. There’s a lot of things needs to be prioritized for now.

Our Baby is 19 Weeks

How your baby’s growing:

Your baby’s sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don’t be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.

Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large heirloom tomato. Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.

See what your baby looks like this week.

How Am I feeling?
I feel weird. My tummy’s getting a bumpy already. I’m wearing my maternity pants as well every time we go out. Still craving for a lot of food which I couldn’t find here in SAR right now. I’m loosing weight – which is not what we all expect. I’m now weighing 45kgs. The last time I checked, I was 43kgs. We’re thinking that the 2kgs is because of the baby not because I’m getting bigger. I don’t eat that much as well. I don’t have my appetite to eat and it’s killing my husband for it. So my in-laws are trying their best as well to feed me. We had to go out every 2 days just to change my mood. I hate my hormones – honestly! and I don’t like the feeling that I’m special just so because I’m pregnant. But never the less, I’m thankful and blessed to have such a supportive family-in-laws during the absence of my parents.

I’m emotionally inclined as well with my mood. I hate seeing my husband in the morning. So what he usually do is that he will not talk to me that much in the morning instead, he’ll just give a quick kiss good morning to avoid me being in a bad mood. Yeah I know, I’m one lucky girl.

On A Bed Rest

I was MIA for quite some time. I was (again) on a bed rest. I felt pain on the lower part of my back and my body doesn’t have the strength as well to go out of bed. I lay down on my sides twisting from side to side every now and then. I realized those days while I was at rest that I missed my Mom and my Dad so much. Really thank God for technology, Skype is just a click away and I was able to talk to them yesterday. Sigh… but I’m lucky and thankful as well because my family-in-laws are the greatest people beside me right now. Mama and Papa, SILs and even BIL was there to look after me for the last 2 days. Thank you so much to all of them.

I feel much better now, thank God. But I have to do some work errands online and need to finish reading some article about lipozene reviews as soon as possible before it run out of me.

Thank you for my Twitter Prayer Warriors for praying for me at times when I needed it most.

“My Name is Khan…”

“…and I’m not a terrorist.”

The other day, I had the most tearful day ever.

We were eating lunch and BIL said that we should watch the movie entitled “My Name is Khan”. I’m not really sure at first since he said that the movie is played by a leading and Bollywood actor. Though the story is based in the United States. So I said “Ok, let’s go for it…”

And just as the movie reached it’s first 20 minutes, I found myself in tears already. The leading role is autistic. And with this type of people, I feel hopeless already putting myself in his shoes in the movie.

The movie for me is a way of saying to people that, crime is not based on religion. Here’s a summary for the story for you to read.

I guarantee that you’ll love this movie too. Hope you have time to see it soon.

And for that reason, while watching the movie, I ate too much. Hahaha! MIL baked Béchamel – one of my favorite pasta. Now we need to find the best diet pills as soon as possible.
