Rodolfo Vera Quizon, Sr., OGH, (July 25, 1928 – July 10, 2012) known by his screen name Dolphy, was a Filipino comedian-actor in the Philippines. He was widely regarded as the Philippines’ “King of Comedy” for his comedic talent embodied by his long roster of works on stage, radio, television and movies.
This photo was taken way back 2008. We were about to dine in at one of the restaurant in BHS and we found Dolphy sitting next to our table. We couldn’t help but to ask his approval for a souvenir photo with us. So happy that he stood up and shook hands with my husband and said “Yeah sure…”. My husband loves his smile. And I’m so glad that Tatay Kevin (which was his screen name) made an impact in my life because I used to watch his TV series during the 90’s when I was still in Riyadh, the “Home Along Da Riles” (means Home Along the Train Riles). During that time, we don’t have cable and TFC are not yet aired. So we had to ask someone back home to record it. We’ll copy that and pass it on from person to another. Yup, we had it beta-max. Now I sound so old.
Oh life. May his soul be at rest and our deepest sympathy for Ms. Zsa Zsa (his wife) and to Quizon family.
You’ve served us well enough Tatay Kevin for 6 decades. The curtain call has finally come to end your performance on Earth. It’s now time to make heaven laugh. Paalam po.
