El Oweini's Life

A Happy Home

I’m praying for the safety of the people of Syria. And at the same time I’m praying for our home to be safe.

This is the first time I’ll be sharing a photo of our humble abode. With the help of my in-laws, we were able to fulfill our dreams. But because of the current situation right now in Syria, our home needs to wait for us to come home. But our heart will always be with it. I pray that the current political issues on involving Syria will soon come to an end. It seems like yesterday when Hubby’s just looking for switch plates that will match our wall décor. Time flies so fast and we thank Allah God almighty for always guiding us when we were still building our home. Anyways, that’s it for now. Have a blessed weekend everyone.

Thursday Night Over

If you will look over the picture below, this is the view from SIL’s veranda. This is one of those bed weather days that we encountered few weeks ago. The weather here is getting cold. We had to postponed our plan to have an overnight stay over one of those parks below. Those Big Agnes Sleeping Bags will be very useful for these types of adventure.

I remember those days back in high school were we attended a field trip. I joined the girl scout back then. I don’t have a sleeping bag of my own, so I had to borrow one from a fellow scouter. Good thing she had a spare one. Memories that I will treasure for the rest of my life. Anyway, got to go now. The little one is teething and is in need of attention.

Julie: 8-month-old

How your baby’s growing:

Your baby’s newfound mobility means that he’s now entering the land of bumps and falls. These are an inevitable part of childhood, and although your heart may occasionally skip a beat or two, try to enjoy watching your baby explore his surroundings and discover his limits.

Restraining your innate desire to protect your baby allows him to grow and learn for himself. However, do make every effort to make your home baby-safe. A good way to do this is to get down to his level to find the possible danger zones. Secure fragile objects so they won’t topple, for example, and keep rickety furniture in rooms that are off-limits.

Yup, she’s trying to crawl up and reaching out things that she thinks she can grab. True to a lot of bumps in the head. It’s all part of it. After experiencing a lot of bumps with Julia, I’m not that scared anymore to face it one more time with Julie – not that I’m expecting for a lot, let’s say that I’m more aware of what can happen and the precautions that I should watch and expect for.

Alright, that’s all for Julie. I’m off to do a review about receipt printer. There’s a business person beside me right now that is preparing for a bring break and I’m offering my help by giving them some ideas and materials that they’ll be needing. TGIF everyone.

Numbers Start with 1, 2, 3

Julia is now 3 years and 2 months old. I’m not sure if we’ll let her go to school by next school year. If we found her ready, then we’ll try out. If not, we have to wait for next year then. I’m happy and proud that she knows her ABC and 123. We’re practicing with colors as well. I started off with the rainbow colors, and so far she’s familiar with it too. Proud momma I am for having a smart toddler.

The other week, I asked her to trace out her name. Below is our first attempt. Not bad right? She knows the letter if you’ll identify it one by one. We have to work out with her writing in straight lines. I’ll get there.

This week I’m starting to let her be familiar with the numbers. She knows her number 1 which is a good thing. She can line up as many number 1 as she can. It’s not perfect, because you’ll see a short sometimes a long number 1. Hahaha! But again, not bad for a 3 year old who is just beginning to write. Then yesterday, I showed her how to write number 2. I used the connect the dots basis since she still can’t follow a perfect curve. So far, she’s getting to it perfectly fine. I noticed as well that she’ll start with her right hand. Then she’ll try to write with the left, then probably she had a hard time writing with the left, she shifted back to being a right handed. My fellow mommy says it’s normal at their age.

Anyway, I thank my SIL for encouraging me to start preparing her. I just hope that I will have more patience with teaching my daughter. It’s really hard. I know now the feeling of what my mom was doing before with me. Wow! A mother’s love is truly indescribable.

Playing The Guitar

I used to play the guitar when I was still in high school. But I don’t play anymore. Hubby bought me a guitar for my 29th birthday, but I sold it after a month. I’m not using it that much since I don’t have the time and I suddenly realized that I don’t have the passion anymore to play with it. It would be nice to be play along with it along with a blackstar ht 40 tube guitar combo amp. It will always be a dream wish and play a live acoustic music in front of my family. For now, it’ll always be dream.

Chinese New Year 2012

It’s the Chinese New Year today. Most of my friends are celebrating it in the Philippines. Their lucky charms to attract good vibes for the year of the water dragon are all ready. I only have this lucky coin that my best friend’s aunt gave me last 2005. I have it ever since and since most of my IG friends are posting their charms, I remember that I have one too.

My lucky coin is up as well and inside my wallet again. Hopefully, aside from luck, it will give us a new and a brighter career too. Year of the water dragon, please be good to us year of the monkey.

Interesting Pinterest

You very well know how it all started. My fellow Twitter friends are all over it, so here I am. I’m starting with bits of photos from our previous trip to UK and the places we’ve been. Follow me, and I’ll follow you.

New Trousers

If God will give me the right work at the right time, I’ll be needing trousers for work. A friend recommended me to check over Gray & Osbourne’s website since they have fabulous in line with Gardeur trousers. While browsing over their designs, I noticed that they have good designs for straight leg trousers which is just the right thing for me. I want a cut that will make me feel comfortable and I’m thankful that I found the best ones on their site. What do you think about this one below?

It looks very elegant right? I love the color too. Just perfect for work. It’s so nice that you can easily shop online for these type of clothing. It makes life easier especially for a stay-at-home mom like me. Now I just need to look for the right size for me. Their sizes are from 8 to 24. Hopefully I can identify as to which size I fall into.

Year End Review 2011

I know it’s late but for journal’s sake need to write it up.

  1. January – Applied for Lebanese citizenship.
  2. February – Officially Lebanese citizen.
  3. March – Our first snow experience in Bludan. End of my 1st trimester (pregnancy).
  4. April – Project Home-Sweet-Home completed. Alhamdulillah!!!
  5. May – Getting ready for the big labor day. Nesting period.
  6. June – Our Lily’s birth month.
  7. July – Our journey to plan ahead.
  8. August – Holy month of Ramadan.
  9. September.
  10. October.
  11. November.
  12. December.

As you notice, the last 4 months is empty. That’s because I want to keep it blank so to forget what we experienced for those 4 months. Loneliness, emotional pain and burden for my husband, all down the drain as we start our new chapter for this year 2012. To sum it all, 2011 is not our year. But Allah is still good to us. In spite of those empty months, he gave us Lily to believe and hope for a better us. Ya Rab Ya Allah! May he guide us as we journey our new life.

Happy New Year!

This will be my first post for the year 2012. Sorry for being so idle these past few days. Aside from coping up with the weather, SIL took us around Sharjah yesterday. It’s really fun to be with your family – that’s all I can say. Looking forward to be on the work mode in the next couple of days. Living you behind this photo of us taken by SIL in Sahara Mall after lunch. Sorry for the mess in front of us, hahaha! :)

01.01.12 - US at Sahara Mall. Our first family photo for this year. Alhamdulillah!Ok na sana, hindi naman nakatingin si Lily. Hehehe!
May this year brings forth good vibes to everyone, peace on earth, happiness and more blessing from Allah. 2011 is a year full of trials for us. But we hang on, trusted in Allah that everything will be okay. Alhamdulillah everything ended in a positive way. I claim that 2012 will be a year for us to start building and re-shaping our lives again. God Bless everyone.
